LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 27-JANUARY 2

Reminder: The Library will close at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 31 and will be closed all day on Saturday, January 1. The Library will reopen on Sunday, January 2, at 1 p.m.

On Wednesday, December 29, at 11 a.m., Emerald City Theater will present A Musical Peter Pan in the Large Meeting Room. For age pre-K and up. No tickets are needed. Adults must accompany preschoolers.

Smarty Pants Big Balloon Circus Show will be in the Large Meeting Room on Thursday, December 30, at 11 a.m. All ages are welcome, but seating is limited. Preschoolers must be accompanied by an adult.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 20-26

The Library will be closed all day on both Friday and Saturday, December 24 and 25, for the Holiday. It will be open on Sunday, December 26, from 1-5 p.m.

The film Despicable Me will be shown at 10 a.m. in Kids Korner on Tuesday, December 21--animated tale of a man who loves all things evil, but who is lured to the "good" side by three little orphan girls. Rated PG.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 13-19

ADULT SERVICES:
The monthly workshop Effective Resumes, Interviewing and Job Search Techniques sponsored by IDES will be held on Monday, December 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Learn techniques to create an attention-getting resume, where to look for possible jobs, and how to create a good impression during an interview. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a mock interview. Register online.

YOUTH SERVICES:
Young adults in grades 6-12 will be Decorating Cookies with Mrs. Cherie and Mrs. M on Wednesday, December 15, at 7 p.m. There is currently a Waiting List for the class. Sign up online.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 6-12

ADULT SERVICES:

The Friends will be having a Mini Used Book Sale on Monday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lobby.

Singer/pianist/composer Ester Hana will be performing holiday music on Monday, December 6, at 7 p.m. during her program 'Tis the Season in the large Meeting Room. No tickets are needed. Refreshments will be served.

An Untamed Land by Lauraine Snelling will be discussed on Tuesday, December 7, at 10:30 a.m., by the Morning Book Group--Norwegian immigrants settle in the upper midwest during the 19th century. For more information, contact Chris Mika at extension 272.

Adults can get an opportunity to create a special gift at Holiday Craft Night Out on Wednesday, December 8, at 7 p.m. (see a sample at the Circulation Desk). There will also be holiday music and seasonal treats to enjoy. Register online.

The bus for the trip to the fabulous Sanfilippo Estate and their renowned "Place de la Musique" collection will be leaving at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, December 9. After the tour, enjoy lunch at the 111 Grille (in a train car) at the Ice House Mall in Barrington. The $62 tickets can be purchased at the Circulation Desk.

The monthly after-hours Game Night will be on Friday, December 10, from 7-10 p.m. Patrons ages 12 and up are welcome to come and play games in teams or solo on Wii, Playstation, Xbox, and PCs. Written parental permission is needed for children under 17. Pizza and pop will be available, too. Register online.

Carolers from the Elk Grove Baptist Church will perform in the Lobby on Saturday, December 11, from 10-10:30 a.m.

YOUTH SERVICES:
Mrs. M's Preschool Holiday Craft classes will be this week on Tuesday, December 7, at 10 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m., at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, and on Thursday, December 9, at 10 a.m. Register online.

Children in grades 1 and 2 can sign up for the Waiting List for the Cookie Decorating Class on Tuesday, December 7, at 4 p.m. There are still openings for the Cookie Decorating Class for 3-5 graders on Thursday, December 9, at 4 p.m. Register online.

The film Shrek Forever After (rated PG) will be shown in Kids Korner on Wednesday, December 8, at 4 p.m. No tickets are necessary. Snacks are permitted.
