LIBRARY HAPPENINGS APRIL 11-17

ADULT SERVICES:
On Monday, April 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the IDES monthly workshop Effective Resumes, Interviewing and Job Search Techniques will once again be offered. It will cover ways to search for a job, how to create a resume that will attract attention, and what to do in an interview, including a chance to do a practice interview. Register online.

On Monday evening, April 11, there will be a special program for Friends Members only at 7 p.m. Peter Oprisko will present his musical tribute Forever Frank, performing the songs of Frank Sinatra. Friends members can register by calling Jill Derkits @ 847-439-0447 x226 or by emailing her at jderkits@egvpl.org. To join the Friends of the Library, obtain forms at the Circulation Desk.

Egypt and the Current Middle East is the latest topic for world-traveler Bill Helmuth on Wednesday, April 13, at 7 p.m. He will take attendees on a photographic journey through this area, discussing its history as well as the effects there of current events. Register online.

The latest Bus Trip is this week, Thursday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: The Chef in You! Culinary Creations. Trippers will visit the Spice House, the Great Harvest Bread Company, and the Viking Cooking School. Learn about the value of spices in cooking, see how bread is made from just flour and yeast, and see a demo of useful techniques at a cooking school. Finish up with a special lunch at the school. Tickets are $62 and can be purchased at the circulation desk.

On two consecutive Fridays, April 15 and 22, the AARP Driver Training will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Motorists ages 50 and older will get a review of driving skills and techniques. Check with your insurance carrier for information on how it may positively affect your premium. $14 fee ($12 for AARP members) for materials is due at registration. If paying by check, please make it payable to AARP. You must attend both sessions. Register in person at the Registration/Information Desk.


YOUTH SERVICES:
This is the last week for Spring story times and programs. They will resume again in Mid-June.

For National Library Week, there will be a special program on Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m.--Paddy Lynn: Color My World. All ages are welcome at this program, with a chance to help Ms Lynn act in and create stories. Preschoolers must attend with an adult.
