LIBRARY HAPPENINGS FEBRUARY 28 TO MARCH 6

There are no specific programs scheduled for this week. However, the Winter Reading Programs in both Adult and Youth Services are continuing until March 18 and are still open to new participants. Drop in story times, and other winter programs are continuing and still have openings in most classes.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS FEBRUARY 21-27

The annual Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held next weekend. Members of the Friends will be able to buy items on Friday, February 25, at 7 p.m. (anyone can join at the door for a nominal fee) at a special Preview. The general public is welcome on Saturday, February 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. On Sunday, February 27, from 1-4 p.m., entrance to the sale is $5 for a bag that can be filled with as much as can be fit in it. Books, puzzles, toys, magazines, dvds, cds, vhs tapes, cassettes, and more will be available for purchase. All week, before the sale, mini sales will be held in the Lobby as well.

ADULT SERVICES:
On Wednesday, February 23, a Bus Trip is scheduled to go see the new production of Les Miserables in Chicago. The $59 tickets include the bus (leaving at 5:45 p.m.), a "brown bag" dinner, and balcony seats. The tickets can be purchased at the Circulation Desk. For more information, call Jill Derkits.

YOUTH SERVICES:
There will be a special Presidents' Day program on Monday, February 21, at 1 p.m. in Kidz Korner. Engineer/magician Steve Belliveau will present Getting Excited about Science, a program for all ages presenting wonders of chemistry and physics. No tickets are needed.

The Chess Tournament for children in grades K to 8 will be held on Saturday, February 26, at 1:30 p.m. Participants do not need to have attended the classes here. Register online.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS FEBRUARY 14-20

ADULT SERVICES:
There is still time to sign up for the Adult Winter Reading program, The Great Art Caper. This year it is not limited to mysteries. Non-fiction, biographies, romances are some of the other categories to choose from--spin to see what area to go to for a book. Only 3 need to be read to qualify for a final "raffle" on March 19.

If you missed the IDES Job Search Workshop this morning, check back next month on the second Monday, March 14. Topics covered are searching techniques, resume creation, and interview techniques and practice.

The Microsoft Word 2010 class scheduled for Wednesday, February 16, currently has a Waiting List. To be placed on that list register online.

YOUTH SERVICES:
The Wolves Winter Reading Program is still going on. Come into Youth Services to sign up--ages infants through 12th grade.

There are still openings for the Open Chess Tournament for children in grades K to 8 scheduled for Saturday, February 26, at 1:30 p.m. Participants do NOT need to have the classes offered here. Register online.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS FEBRUARY 7-13

ADULT SERVICES:
Bill Helmuth returns on Monday,February 7, at 7 p.m., for part three of his series on Modern Israel: An In-Depth Look--The Palestinians and the West Bank. Mr. Helmuth will relate his experiences walking on the West Bank. Register online.

Disney Studios' recent drama/documentary Oceans will be shown Tuesday evening, February 8, at 7 p.m., in Kids Korner. Rated G. No tickets are needed. All ages are welcome.

The "Beatles" concert extravaganza RAIN: A Tribute to the Beatles will be the object of the Bus Trip scheduled for Wednesday, February 9. Attendees will leave at 5:45 p.m. and return after 11. The $63 tickets include the bus ride, a "Brown Bag Dinner", and middle balcony seats. Tickets are available at the Circulation desk. Call Jill Derkits for more information.

Rich Sandberg will present Downloading E-Books on Thursday, February 10, at 7 p.m. Learn about My Media Mall and how to transfer titles from the Web to a personal viewing or listening device. Register online.

LIBRARY CLOSED TUESDAY EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY

Because of the predicted approaching blizzard, the Library will close early today, Tuesday, February 1, at 3 p.m. It will also be closed all day tomorrow, Wednesday, February 2. As of now, the Library will re-open on Thursday, February 3, at 9 a.m. as usual.
