LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 26-JANUARY 1

REMINDER: The Library will close early on Saturday, December 31--at 1 p.m. The Library will be closed all day on Sunday and Monday, January 1-2. It will re-open at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3.

At 11 a.m. today, December 27, American Eagle Productions will be performing Charlotte's Web. all ages are welcome, but preschoolers must be accompanied by an adult.

On Thursday, December 29, at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m., Scales and Tales will present a variety of animals for children to see, learn about, and, perhaps, touch. All ages are welcome, but preschoolers must come with an adult. Strollers may not be allowed in the room if it is very crowded.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 19-25

REMINDER:  The Library will be closed for three days for the Christmas Holiday:  Saturday, December 24; Sunday, December 25; and Monday, December 26.
 
YOUTH SERVICES: On Monday, December 19, the animated film Kung Fu Panda 2 will be shown at 11 a.m. in Kids Korner. No tickets are needed. Rated PG.

Dave Herzog's Marionettes will perform their show Christmas Capers on Tuesday, December 20, at 11 a.m. in the Large Meeting Room. No tickets are needed. All ages are welcome, but pre-schoolers must be accompanied by an adult.

Jason Kollum will be presenting his interactive program, Rock and Roll Variety Juggling Show, on Thursday, December 22, at 11 a.m. in the Large Meeting Room.   No tickets are needed. All ages are welcome, but pre-schoolers must be accompanied by an adult.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 12-18

ADULT SERVICES: Enjoy 'Tis the Season: Christmas Music in the Movies, clips of Christmas songs and skits from movies and TV, on Tuesday, December 13, at 7 p.m. See again Judy Garland, Jack Benny, Bing Crosby, and more celebrate the holidays. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call Jill Derkits at extension 226.

On Wednesday, December 14, the film Beginners, starring Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer, will be shown in the large Meeting Room at 7 p.m.--a man embarks on a new romantic relationship while dealing with the recent discovery that his father has terminal cancer and is gay. Rated R. No tickets are necessary.

The Adult Holiday Craft program this year will be on Thursday, December 15, at 7 p.m.
Eleanor Reily of Green Spa Gifts will conduct a hands-on workshop in which each attendee will make 4 beauty & body products from natural ingredients, and package them for gift giving. Recipes include: Natural Hand Sanitizer, Citrus Mint Body Spray, De-Stress Me Potpourri, Sachets and Salt Scrub for silky hands and feet.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 5-11

ADULT SERVICES:
The Morning Book Group will be discussing Jean Shepherd's classic holiday book A Christmas Story on Tuesday, December 6, at 10:30 a.m. The book is a collection of short humorous autobiographical vignettes, many of which were used as a basis for the now-classic film. The Oriental Theater in Chicago is the destination of the next Bus Trip, scheduled for Wednesday, December 7. The $71 tickets include the transportation (leaving at 5:45 p.m.), a "Brown-Bag dinner", and balcony seats for Donny and Marie--Christmas in Chicago . The Friends of the Library will be having a mini-book sale in the Lobby on Friday, December 9, from 3-7 p.m., and on Saturday, December 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Holiday items will be included.

The monthly Game Night is scheduled for Friday, December 9, from 7-10 p.m. Play Wii, Playstation, X-box, Pc games, board games, and more in teams or solo. Pizza and pop will be provided. Register at the Adult Services Desk (call extension 271). Participants must be at least 12; if the participant is under 17, written parental permission is required.

YOUTH SERVICES:
Four sessions of the Preschool Holiday Craft are scheduled for this week. There are still openings for the Tuesday (December 6) classes at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., as well as for the Thursday (December 8) 10 a.m. class. The Wednesday (December 7) class at 7 p.m. currently has a Waiting List. Register online.
