LIBRARY HAPPENINGS JUNE 25-JULY 1

ADULT SERVICES:
 Ever wanted to sell something on eBay but didn't know how to get started?  Then eBay 101: Selling Basic, presented by Jack Waddick, is a program that will give you all the information to get started.  It will be on Monday, June 25, at 7 p.m.  Register online.

 A Gold Medal Collection of Art: London National Gallery will be the subject of the program Tuesday, June 26, at 7 p.m., presented by Jeff Michur from Art Excursions.  There is a special collection there this year in honor of the London  Olympic Games and Mr, Michur will discuss and show some of the highlights of that exhibit.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.  Register online.

The 7 p.m. Wednesday movie this week on June 27 will be Big Miracle , starring Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski--three gray whales are trapped under the ice in the Arctic circle and several different groups come together to try to save them.  Rated PG.  No tickets are needed.


YOUTH SERVICES:
On Friday, June 29, there will be two musical programs presented.
At 11 a.m., Jim Gill will appear in his interactive program Music Play for Children.  All ages are welcome; no tickets are needed.  Preschoolers must come with an adult.  Strollers may be prohibited due to space limitations.

At 4 p.m., the local girl group Serendipity Band will perform The band members are 14-15 years old and play a variety of rock music.  A couple of them attend Elk Grove High School.  Although intended for 6th graders and up, all ages, really, are welcome.  If the weather is nice, thy might be outdoors.  Otherwise they will be in the Large Meeting Room.  No tickets are necessary.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS JUNE 18-24

Summer Story Times start this week.  All classes are drop in; no registration required.  They will run through the last full week in July.
Mondays:  Baby Tales at 10 a.m.--ages 6 months to 2 1/2;  Alphabet Soup at 11 a.m.--ages 2 1/2 to 3 1/2
Tuesdays:  Storytime at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.--ages 3 1/2 through K
Wednesdays:  Family Story Time at 7 p.m.--all ages
All children under the Kindergarten age must attend with an adult for all programs.

Every Friday at 11 a.m. there will be a special program.  This week on June 22, Flying Fox Conservation Fund will present a program on Beautiful Bats.  No registration is needed, but young children must come with an adult.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS JUNE 11-17

ADULT SERVICES:
Carry a Torch for Reading is the Olympic Year Theme for the Adult Summer Reading Program that starts Monday, June 11, and runs through August 26. Read 5 Elk Grove Library books to earn a Dewey Decathalon T-shirt. Each book read also earns a chance to win a prize from local merchants. Sign up at the Adult Services Reference Desk starting at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., the Beatles Tribute Band Stockwood will perform in the Large Meeting Room; no tickets are needed.

From 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., IDES will present its monthly workshop for job-seekers, Effective Resumes, Interviewing and Job Search Techniques. Learn proven techniques to create a professional-looking resume, learn where to find suitable job openings, and learn how to make a good impression at an interview. There will even be an opportunity to practice at a mock interview session. Register online.

Robert Downey, Jr., and Jude Law appear as Sherlock Holmes and Watson in the film Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows on Wednesday, June 13, at 7 p.m. Rated PG-13, the story involves the notorious Professor Moriarty, Irene Adler, and Mycroft Holmes as well. No tickets are needed.

Spend all day Thursday, June 14, on a Bus Trip to southeast Wisconsin. Enjoy a streetcar ride along Lake Michigan in Kenosha, a visit to a Civil War Museum, lunch at the Boat House Pub and Eatery, a ten mile ride on an electric train at the East Troy Electric Railroad, and a stop at the Elegant Farmer and the Farm Kitchen Bakery and Market. Tickets are only $78 and can be purchased at the Circulation Desk.


YOUTH SERVICES:
Registration for the Youth Summer Reading Program, Dream Big: Read, begins Monday, June 11, at 9 a.m. Participants from newborns to 12th graders can earn rewards based on the number of minutes of reading completed. The fifth award is a t-shirt. There will also be a weekly drawing for those who read a specific type of book as chosen by the "wheel". The program will end July 28. Story times and Friday Special Programs begin the week of the 18th, and Thursday Craft Programs begin June 28--all sessions of Tye-Dye T-Shirts are already full.
