Part Time Job Openings: IT Monitor and Periodicals Desk Clerk


Part-Time IT Monitor
Network Systems Department

Qualifications
Minimum high school diploma plus one year of training in computer systems hardware and software or demonstrated ability to do the job. Physically able to maneuver in and about computer stations for repair purposes.

Attributes
Good communication skills and ability to understand and share written and oral instructions; ability to exercise initiative; must exercise tact, friendliness, and patience when working with patrons and staff; can work productively with minimal supervision.


Responsibilities
Assists patrons and staff with PC applications and peripherals; maintains and troubleshoots equipment and software applications; develops How-To documents, databases, or forms for in-house use; reserves patron study and media rooms; assists staff and outside groups with equipment setup; assists with miscellaneous tasks at the Periodicals Desk.


Hours
18 hours average per week; mostly evenings, some mornings, and at least one weekend per month


Salary
$13.14 per hour

Part-Time Periodicals Desk Clerk
Adult Services Department

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent experience and training or demonstrated ability to perform the job. Typing skills required. Previous experience in a public service position helpful.

Attributes
Needs to project a friendly and helpful manner.


Responsibilities
Assists public with the retrieval of periodicals and newspapers at the Periodicals Desk. Works closely with Computer Monitors to provide exceptional customer service. Coordinates use of Adult Services computers, Study Room, and Media Room. Assists public with microform and microfilm readers, copiers, video games, scanners, typewriter, and other equipment. Needs to learn automated "Serials Management" computer program. May assist with other duties or projects as needed.

Hours
18 hours average per week; alternating weekends and three (3) Thursdays (11am - 8pm) in each 4-week rotation


Salary
$13.14 per hour
