LIBRARY HAPPENINGS JULY 4-10

The Library will be closed on Monday, July 4, but will re-open at the usual time on Tuesday, July 5, 9 a.m.

It is not too late to join either the children's or adult's Summer Reading Programs. Check with the Reference Desks in each department

ADULT SERVICES:
The Morning Book Group will be discussing Julie Otsuka's When the Emperor Was Divine on Tuesday, July 5, at 10:30 a.m.--the travails of a Japanese-American family during and after WW II who incur detainment in an internment camp and eventually return to a vandalized California home. Call Chris Mika at extension 272 for more information.

On Thursday, July 7, at 7 p.m., the remake of True Grit, starring Jeff Bridges will be shown --a young girl enlists the aid of an old U.S. Marshall to find the man who killed her father. Rated PG-13. No tickets are needed.

AARP Driver Training--a two week class--will start on Friday, July 8 at 12:30 p.m. Motorists aged 50 and up can review their driving skills and techniques. The cost is $14 ($12 for AARP members) for materials. Call Jill Derkits for more information.

Friday, July 8, is Game Night for patrons aged 12 and up (children under 17 need written parental permission) starting at 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Play board games, PC games, Playstation, XBox, and Wii games in teams or solo. Snacks will be provided.

YOUTH SERVICES:
Madcap Puppets return on Friday, July 8, at 4 p.m., for a program of fairy tales from around the world. No tickets are needed. All ages are welcome, but preschoolers must come with an adult.
