LIBRARY HAPPENINGS AUGUST 27--SEPTEMBER 2

ADULT SERVICES:
Did you know that the current mayor of Palatine is a former professional football player? Mayor Jim Schwantz played for both the Chicago Bears, the San Francisco 49ers, and for the Dallas Cowboys during the 1990's. Even now he has ties to football as a commentator on WBBM. On Monday, August 27, at 7 p.m., he will be reminiscing about those years and experiences during the program From the Suburbs to the NFL. Register online. NOTE: although the Summer Reading Program prize winners will be drawn at 6:30, preceding the program, the program is open to everyone, not just the SRP finishers.

On Tuesday, August 28, at 7 p.m., Gary Kouba, former owner of Perfect Auto Finish, will show car owners Auto Detailing: Do it like a Professional. Interior and exterior car care will be covered. He'll also explain what to look for and look out for when buying a new car. Register online.

Contact Jill Derkits (extension 226) for more information about the latest Bus Trip, scheduled for Wednesday, August 29--a Taste Trip to Milwaukee. The $67 ticket will provide stops at the Milwaukee Public Market, Tulip, Glorioso's Deli,  Sciortino's Bakery, and Karl Ratzsch's. Oh, and there'll be some history thrown in as well. The bus will leave at 9 a.m., and return after 4:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Circulation Desk.

The latest Craft Swap will be held on Thursday, August 30, at 7 p.m. Bring in craft kits and supplies you know you'll never use again or that you've lost interest in, and take home something new. Register online.

REMINDER: The Library will be closed for the Labor Day Holiday on both Sunday, September 2, and Monday, September 3. It will reopen on Tuesday, September 4, at 9 a.m.
