LIBRARY HAPPENINGS OCTOBER 8-14

ADULT SERVICES:
IDES returns Monday, October 8 at 9:30 a.m., for a day-long seminar for job seekers:  Effective Resumes, Interviewing, and Job Search Techniques.    A mock interview opportunity will be part of the class.  Register online.

The Computer Class, Internet Basics, is being offered on Wednesday, October 19, at 2 p.m.  For total newbies, the class will cover toolbars, urls, hyperlinks, and more.  Register online.

The after-hours Game Night will be Friday, October 12, at 7 p.m.  Patrons aged 12 and up are invited to play solo or in teams.  Games include table-top, PC, and platform varieties.  Participants younger than 17 need written parental permission.  Register online.

AARP Driver Training--a two-week course--starts Friday, October 12, at 1 p.m.  The second class will be October 19.  Both classes must be attended; this may possibly lead to a reduction in insurance premiums (check with your provider).  There is a $14 fee ($12 for AARP members) to cover materials costs.  Call Jill Derkits at extension 226 to register.

YOUTH SERVICES:
Monday, October 8, is the official Columbus Day.  This year there will be two sessions of a special program: Nature's Creatures Animal Show--one show at 11 a.m., and the second at 1:30 p.m.  All ages are welcome, but preschoolers must come with an adult.  Because of space considerations, strollers may not be allowed in the room.

Chess Classes return for three weeks starting Saturday, October 13.  Beginners will meet at 1 p.m. and more experienced players will meet at 2:15 p.m. for Strategies and Beyond.  Register online.
