National Poetry Month Contest @ EGVPL

 

Calling all poets!

Do you write poems? Send us some of your work!
 
About the Contest
In honor of National Poetry Month, the Elk Grove Village Library is holding a poetry contest for poets who are 14 years or older and who live in Elk Grove Village or Elk Grove Township. You may submit up to 3 previously unpublished poems, 80 lines or less per poem. The contest is open to all forms, styles, and subject matter.

Inspiration
Need some inspiration? Here are a few possible writing prompts.
 
Write a poem:
  • about a favorite painting
  • with the word "mirroring" in it
  • about travel
  • to your first love
  • with the word "mask" in the title 
Prizes
Three (3) poems will be chosen by Elk Grove Village Library staff. Each winner will receive a $25 gift card. Winning poems will be published
on the Library's website and social media platforms, and displayed in the Library.
 
How to Submit
Send a Word or a PDF file to Erwin Ponce at eponce@egvpl.org, or give us your poems in person at the Adult Reference Desk. Please include your name, phone number, and email address on each page you submit.Deadline is April 30, 2021.
